Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp recently left the team scrimmage after sustaining a low-ankle sprain. It was only evaluated as a minor injury but the team decided to err on the side of caution.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport disclosed more details on the situation via  Twitter:

Cooper Kupp had continuous improvements as he gradually rose from the ranks throughout his three-year stint with the Rams. He started his rookie year primarily as a backup but was productive enough to land a spot in the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2017. He was eventually given a bigger role in the offensive rotation but a torn ACL injury sustained in Week 10 of the 2018 season prematurely ended his sophomore campaign.

The former Eastern Washington Eagle entered the 2019 season as the primary target on the wings for quarterback Jared Goff. He bounced back well from his injury and surpassed the 1,000 receiving yard mark for the first time in his career. He also tallied career-highs in receptions with 94 and scored touchdowns with 10 across 16 appearances last season.

Kupp is expected to ball out in the upcoming season as he enters the final year of his rookie contract signed in 2017. He is also expected by the Rams to potentially test the free-agent market by March 2021.

Undrafted sophomore Nsimba Webster and undrafted rookie Earnest Edwards IV will be seeing first-team reps at the right wide receiver position for the time being. When healthy, Kupp's contribution on the offensive side of the field will be highly valued as the Rams aim to navigate through a tough NFC West competition in 2020.
