Dante Fowler Jr. is returning to the Los Angeles Rams on a one-year contract worth $14 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Fowler was acquired by the Rams in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars midway through the 2018 campaign. In eight games with Los Angeles, the linebacker registered 21 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In 15 contests overall this past season, he totaled 30 tackles, four sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was originally selected by the Jaguars with the third overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He went on to miss his entire rookie campaign after tearing his ACL during the first day of rookie mini-camp, but in 2016, he appeared in all 16 games and finished with 32 tackles, four sacks and five passes defended.

Then, the following year, Fowler posted 21 stops, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown in helping lead a Jacksonville defense that turned out to be one of the best in the league.

Things then began to go south for the Jaguars, as they got off to a surprisingly miserable start this past season and ended up trading Fowler to the Rams for a third-round draft pick.

Fowler, who was a defensive end in Jacksonville, then moved to linebacker in Los Angeles to fit the team's 3-4 defensive scheme.

The Rams won 12 games in 2018 and made it all the way to the Super Bowl before losing to the New England Patriots.
