There are a whole lot of people worried about Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley, as the star has not provided a clear update on his troublesome left knee and has not been participating in offseason workouts.

Now, former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew is projecting a sober reality for Gurley in 2019: his touches may be reduced.

“I think you can expect (22 touches per game). But he may not be on the field for 80 snaps,” Jones-Drew said on Thursday's edition of NFL Total Access. “He may be on the field for 60 or 50 snaps instead of having to be on the field for 16 games playing 80 snaps to 90 snaps a game. That's not gonna happen anymore.”

Gurley originally injured his knee back in Week 15 and did not return until the Divisional Round of the playoffs. He looked great in the Rams' win over the Dallas Cowboys that weekend, rushing for 115 yards and a couple of touchdowns, but he was a non-factor in the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl, leading many to believe that his knee was still an issue.

The fact that both Gurley and the Rams have been so tight-lipped about the status of his knee throughout the offseason has not lent much confidence that the 24-year-old is 100 percent.

On the 2018 campaign overall, Gurley racked up 1,251 yards and a league-leading 17 touchdowns on the ground while also hauling in 59 receptions for 580 yards and four scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Gurley has made three Pro Bowls and has notched First-Team All-Pro honors twice since entering the NFL back in 2015.
