The Green Bay Packers hired Matt LaFleur, a disciple of the Los Angeles Rams' Sean McVay, as their new head coach on Monday, with many saying how a lot of NFL teams are searching for the next McVay.

LaFleur served as McVay's offensive coordinator in 2017, so is it safe to say that he is part of the McVay coaching tree?

Not so fast.

McVay then took it a step further, saying that LaFleur's newfound success has little to do with McVay himself and everything to do with the Los Angeles Rams organization:

“It's really the Rams' success that we've had,” said McVay, according to Joe Curley of The Ventura County Star. “This is a reflection of the culture that's created by the people that are here… It's flattering for the organization.”

The Rams have indeed experienced a culture change since McVay took over as head coach last season.

Prior to the 2017 campaign, Los Angeles had not made the playoffs since 2004, representing the longest active drought in the NFC at the time. However, McVay proceeded to lead the Rams to 11 wins and an NFC West division title last season, and this year, he guided Los Angeles to a 12-4 mark, another NFC West crown and a first-round bye.

While a lot of that recent success has to do with the explosiveness of the Rams' offensive talent, McVay deserves a significant amount of credit for really turning the franchise around.

Los Angeles will play host to the red-hot Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Saturday.
