Jalen Ramsey noticeably had a limited role during Sunday's game for the Los Angeles Rams and we now know why. While speaking to reporters on Monday, Sean McVay shared that Ramsey sustained a hip ailment during pre-game warmups against the San Francisco 49ers.

“In warm-ups he had a little bit of a hip thing that was bothering him, but he was able to step up, he played 50 of the 75, or however exactly, snaps it was,” coach Sean McVay told reporters on Monday, via ProFootballTalk. “That was kind of something that we were surprised about it in warm-ups. He did a great job with the reps that he had and I do expect him to be feeling good and he came out of there and checked off with [Vice President, Sports Medicine and Performance] Reggie [Scott] and the training staff in good shape, but that was the only reason why he wasn’t out there every single snap. You want one of your best players and a guy like him out there as much as possible.”

Ramsey typically plays  in every defensive snap each game, though he had to leave early in Week 8 with an illness. But in Week 12 versus the 49ers, Ramsey logged only 50 of the team's 72 defensive snaps.

The All-Pro cornerback has had a stellar campaign thus far, notching 31 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. He's also forced a 50 percent completion percentage and a 63.7 passer rating when targeted, which are both career-bests for the Florida State product.

Of course, the Rams would love to have Ramsey on the field for the entirety of the game each and every week. However, Ramsey experienced some discomfort before Sunday's contest, prompting him to play on a pitch count.

It will be worth monitoring Ramsey's status ahead of Los Angeles' upcoming bout with the Arizona Cardinals.
