New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore did not appear at mandatory minicamp as he continues to look for a new contract while also rehabbing an injury. Shortly after, Los Angeles Rams star Jalen Ramsey gave his own recruiting pitch to Gilmore in hopes of persuading the team to trade for him.

Interesting, right?

It seems unlikely that the Patriots give him an extension right now, and if Gilmore's holdout continues the Patriots might have no choice to ship him out for something. But, can you imagine a pairing of Ramsey and Gilmore?

That isn't even considering Aaron Donald, perhaps the best defensive player in the entire NFL. The Rams added Matthew Staford and are prime candidates to win the NFC West and could be a sneaky pick to make a run at the Super Bowl.

The storylines with Gilmore have been circulating all year, so it isn't a surprise he didn't show up for camps. On the other hand, Ramsey giving his pitch is a surprise and a very real possibility if the Patriots do decide to trade him for something.

As the season comes closer and closer, the situation regarding Gilmore will be one to monitor, and perhaps the Rams have another big trade up their sleeves.
