The 2018 NFL season ended barely more than 48 hours ago, but it's apparently already time for some baseless offseason conjecture.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ caught up with CBS NFL personality James Brown at the airport recently, and asked his opinion on a number questions related to Super Bowl LIII. His most notable answer concerned Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley, whose role within his team's offense was diminished throughout the playoffs. Gurley, coach Sean McVay, and others with inside knowledge have insisted that development was more about random circumstance and personnel matchups than anything else, but Brown thinks differently.

“I don't think we know the full story,” Brown said of the situation involving Gurley. “As far as Todd Gurley is concerned, there's a lot more to that. Sean McVay and the coaching staff understand everything that he can do, and to the degree that he was an MVP candidate throughout most of the season and he didn't get played that much during this stretch here, there's more to the story.”

Speculation regarding Gurley's decreased usage focused most on the knee injury that caused him to miss two games toward the end of the regular season. Both he and McVay stressed after the Super Bowl that Gurley was fully healthy in the playoffs, though, leading many to guess that there's more than meets the eye to his sudden lack of involvement in the offense.

Gurley had 10 carries for 35 yards in the Super Bowl, after notching just four carries in the Rams' overtime win against the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game. Second-string running back C.J. Anderson, signed as a free agent in December, was extremely productive during his short time with Los Angeles, garnering more carries than Gurley throughout the playoffs.
