Shortly after a controversial video emerged of New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. possibly using illegal substances, rumors of a possible trade emerged.

The Los Angeles Rams were rumored to be one of the teams highly interested in acquiring Beckham Jr. With that in mind, Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff recently addressed that situation, stating that it was an exciting possibility back in March before the acquisition wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

Per Sam Alipour of ESPN:

Speaking of stars, there was a report that Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be a Ram.

“Was there? I must have missed that. [Smiles] Yeah, it was exciting for a minute. Odell obviously would have been incredible, but I think he's happy as a Giant, and we're happy to have Brandin.”

For a brief time early this offseason, the Rams appeared to be a serious landing spot for Beckham Jr., especially after all of their big splash moves prior, acquiring a pair of All-Pro cornerbacks in Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters in separate trades while bringing on Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on a one-year deal via free agency.

However, the Rams quickly decided to head into another direction by trading for Cooks from the New England Patriots in exchange for their first-round pick in this year's draft. It didn't take long to secure him under a new long-term extension of five years worth $80 million that runs through the 2023 season.

The addition of Beckham Jr. would have given them arguably one of the best wide receivers in the league, but the addition of Cooks has given them potentially that explosive No.1 receiving option that Goff can heavily rely on over the next several seasons.
