The Los Angeles Rams have gotten off to a stellar 2-0 start to the 2018 NFL season. Among the players at the forefront of their success is quarterback Jared Goff.

Although Goff has already established himself as one of the most promising, young quarterbacks in the NFL, there are still skeptics that have dubbed him as a system quarterback. According to Greg Beachum of the Associated Press, he does not mind being called anything so long as the Rams continue to dominate:

“(If we) continue to go out there and put up 30 points, you can call me whatever you want.”

It is encouraging to see that Goff is not getting too caught up in all the talk. Of course, winning like the Rams have done recently certainly helps block out the noise. However, it is clear he still has plenty of work to do before he is able to shake that designation.

The Rams kickstarted their homecoming to Los Angeles by trading up to select Goff with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, the honeymoon period ended abruptly by the team's abysmal start to the 2016 campaign. To make matters worse, Goff looked nothing like a future franchise quarterback thanks to the lackluster offense he had been a part of. As a result, he had already been labeled by some as a bust.

However, Goff experienced a huge reversal of fortune thanks to the arrival of head coach Sean McVay. He flourished under McVy's system with the help of the new coaching staff and player personnel that surrounded him last year. He may never be able to shake being typecast as a system quarterback. However, things seem to have worked out pretty well for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
