Los Angeles Rams franchise quarterback Jared Goff has a lot resting on his shoulders. Now entering next season under his massive contract extension, which he signed last fall for four years, $134 million, Goff is the face of the franchise following the release of star running back Todd Gurley and key to the passing game in Los Angeles' offense.
According to the former first-overall selection out of California, though, the Rams signal-caller is well along the way to a confident and successful 2020 season.
Goff tossed an NFL-high 626 pass attempts during the 2019—the clear indication that's where head coach Sean McVay envisioned the Rams' offense headed (and relegating Gurley as a lower offensive option). The two-time Pro-Bowl gunslinger also threw for over 4,600 yards with a 62.9 completion percentage, connecting on 22 touchdowns and a career-worst 16 interceptions.
Limiting the turnovers will invariably help both Goff and the Rams' offense going forward. The NFC West club joined the 2012 New York Giants and 2016 Carolina Panthers as NFC franchises that failed to reach the playoffs one year removed from reaching the Super Bowl, as L.A. lost Super Bowl LIII in 2018.
