Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff will no longer have Todd Gurley lining up behind him in the backfield, but Goff has plenty of confidence in Gurley's replacement.

Goff called Darrell Henderson a “special talent” as Henderson prepares to carry the brunt of the load in the Rams' backfield in 2020 (via Cameron DaSilva of USA TODAY):

“I think Darrell is a special talent. He’s a special player, a special talent and he can be dangerous,” Goff said. “I think he’s fast, he’s athletic, he can catch extremely well. He’s got the ability, as time goes on, a top guy. We’re going to have to wait and see but he’s got everything you want. He’s smart, he’s fast, he’s agile. He can do everything.”

Henderson has drawn plenty of praise from teammates as of late, as Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth also lauded Henderson's potential during a conference call earlier this month.

The former Memphis star played in 13 games in 2019, rushing 39 times for 147 yards in his rookie season. He was on the field for just eight percent of all offensive snaps, per Pro Football Reference.

But while he hardly saw the field in 2019, Henderson figures to be a major component of L.A.'s offensive scheme in 2020, particularly if he is as adept as a pass-catcher as Goff claims.

The Rams' offense ranked just 17th in defense-adjusted value over average, per Football Outsiders. Goff is coming off a bad year, and the Rams are also without Gurley and wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

However, Goff and co. will be counting on Henderson to fill the void as a playmaker.
