Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth pondered retirement after the Rams lost the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots this past season, but ultimately, he decided to return, and quarterback Jared Goff was thrilled about it:

“Ecstatic. I was pumped,” Goff said of how he reacted to Whitworth returning, per NFL.com. “It was kind of a little limbo there for a few weeks, just wondering what he was going to do. Getting him back is so big not only to our offense and what we do schematically, but just to our team and our locker room and having that guy in there. His presence is so huge and just having him around is so big. I didn’t want to bug him, I didn’t want to say, ‘Hey, when are you coming back.’ I just wanted to let him sit and make a decision and from the sounds of it, he made his decision fairly quickly after the Super Bowl and happy to have him back.”

Whitworth arrived in Los Angeles in 2017 and has been an integral part of the Rams' turnaround over the last two years, making the Pro Bowl and earning a First-Team All-Pro selection during his first season with the club. While he didn't earn either of those honors in 2018, he was still terrific and helped Los Angeles' offense remain one of the best in the league.

The 37-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (55th pick overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.

He spent the first 11 years of his career with the Bengals, making three Pro Bowls and notching a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2015.

The Rams won 12 games and captured the NFC West division title this past season en route to making it all the way to the Super Bowl.
