Last season, the Los Angeles Rams were a talented football team with a potentially bright future due to the arrival of quarterback Jared Goff. Although the Rams made the bold move to acquire the top pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to get Goff while also having arguably one of the best running backs in the league in Todd Gurley and an elite defensive tackle in Aaron Donald, Fisher couldn't put it all together and therefore was fired 13 games into his first season in Los Angeles.

A year later, the Rams are firing on all cylinders as quite possibly the best all-around team in the NFC with the playoffs a near certainty as they hone in on the NFC West division title. Head coach Sean McVay looks like the favorite for Coach of the Year in the NFL while the Super Bowl could be a realistic destination for this up-and-coming football team.

Fisher, who has stepped away from football this year with no intention to immediately get back into coaching, recently talked about his former team and where they're right now under McVay, via ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

“I'm a huge fan of the Ram players,” Fisher told The Midday 180 on Friday. “They're basically — I don't want to say my players, but I had a lot to do with that roster. Left them in pretty good shape. And Sean, as he's proven in this very short period of time, is an outstanding young coach. And he's got the offense rolling, which they needed.”

Although Fisher's comments will come with some criticism as some may take it as if he's taking credit for the Rams' success this season, the former head coach does give McVay some well-deserved praise for what he's been able to do in his first year at the helm in Los Angeles.

As for Fisher's future in the NFL, the soon-to-be 60-year-old is rumored to be ready to return to the sidelines with three potential destinations. Whether Fisher can return as quickly as he wants to after a forgettable 2016 campaign with the Rams remains to be seen.

The Rams, however, have clearly moved on and for the better, as they can win the NFC West division title with a win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 16.
