The Los Angeles Rams have done some serious spending this offseason in their efforts to compete for a championship. They managed to once again secure another integral piece of their offense in right tackle Rob Havenstein.

According to a press release sent out by the Rams (obtained by ClutchPoints' Bob Garcia), Los Angeles has signed Havenstein to a four-year contract extension:

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to terms on a 4-year contract extension with OL Rob Havenstein, the team announced today. He is now under contract through the 2022 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We’re excited to extend Rob with the Rams for another four seasons,” Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said. “He’s been a reliable member of our offensive line and maintaining consistency among that unit is important as we continue to grow offensively. Congratulations to Rob and his family.”

ESPN's Lindsey Thiry reported that the deal is worth $32.5 million:

The Rams have put an emphasis on shoring up the long-term future on offense. It is easy to see why after their sudden transformation into the highest-scoring unit in the league last season. They kicked things off by locking up wide receiver Brandin Cooks for five years, then making Todd Gurley the highest-paid running back in the league. The recent extension is just proof of how important it is for them to fortify the offensive line as well.

The Rams selected Havenstein in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and he made an immediate impact after not allowing a single sack at right tackle in his rookie campaign. Despite his promising start, his performance dwindled alongside the makeshift offensive line at the time. Fortunately, things have stabilized up front and it has done wonders for the rest of the offense.

Of course, Havenstein's deal only raises further questions about the Rams' ability to sign superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald. It is clear that general manager Les Snead has been busy crunching the numbers this offseason in order to make sure their championship window remains open for as long as possible. That said, it is safe to assume that Snead is making the moves with Donald's looming extension in mind.
