The Los Angeles Rams have lost quite a few key players this offseason, but that appears to be all part of the plan. Despite losing some of their starters in free agency, Los Angeles plans to be aggressive in rebuilding the roster for next season.

Over the past few seasons, the Rams have made plenty of win-now moves, trading for players and signing them to lucrative extensions. While it resulted in a Super Bowl appearance in 2018, Los Angeles is feeling the side effects of making those moves this offseason.

So far in free agency, the Rams have lost Cory Littleton, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Dante Fowler, and Greg Zuerlein. In addition, they released Todd Gurley and Clay Matthews, with Gurley counting around $20 million in dead cap over the next two seasons.

Lastly, Eric Weddle also chose to retire, leaving the Rams with a vastly different roster than they ended the 2019 season with. However, Kevin Demoff — the COO of the Rams — said that Los Angeles went into the offseason with the realization that they'd have to part ways with some of their marquee players.

“Each year, your players change, your team changes and we knew walking into this season there would be tough choices,” Demoff told ESPN. “It’s going to be a different-looking team than the one that left the field in 2019, but I think everybody knew that was going to be the case.”

Of course, the draft can be a source of adding players for the Rams, even though they don't have a first-round pick in the next two years. Even though they are limited in draft capital and cap space, Los Angeles is going to remain aggressive in improving the roster for the 2020 season.
