It looks like the Los Angeles Rams are not yet done bolstering their roster in a bid to defend their Super Bowl title this 2022. This time, the reigning champs have been linked with a potential move for cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Apparently, the team has been in “contact” with Gilmore and his camp, although it is uncertain how far they have gone in their discussions for a potential signing. According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, the Rams also have a plan in place already if they secure the services of the star CB.

The Rams have been in contact with Gilmore this offseason, a source said. If signed, Gilmore would occupy the outside cornerback role opposite Jalen Ramsey. If and when Ramsey moves into the “Star” position, either Robert Rochell or David Long Jr. can play the other outside spot (I also expect the Rams to draft a cornerback).

Of course it remains to be seen if the Rams can pull off the Stephon Gilmore move. However, they do have one advantage over the other suitors interested in the 31-year-old: the fact that they are coming off a title run.

When Gilmore entered free agency, he made his one requirement for his next team clear: he wants to join an organization where he can continue winning. And where else to better do it than in the home of champions in LA?

“I'm excited to weigh all options. I just want to be in a place where I can continue to win & also get a good deal. A lot of players in the league have been trying to recruit me and that’s cool, but time will tell soon,” Gilmore said in early March.

It is unknown when Gilmore will make his official decision, but it shouldn't be too long before the Rams hear an asnwer.
