Los Angeles Rams linebacker Samson Ebukam underwent minor knee surgery after the season, according to Gary Klein of The Los Angeles Times.
Ebukam is expected to be ready for training camp, but his recovery from the procedure will hinder his availability for offseason workouts.
The 23-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played all 16 games and finished with 40 tackles, three sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles. a couple of fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns, with both of those scores coming in the Rams' 54-51 win over the Kansas City Chiefs back in November.
Ebukam, who played his collegiate football at Eastern Washington, was originally selected by the Rams in the fourth round (125th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He went on to appear in all 16 contests during his rookie season, registering 22 tackles, a pair of sacks and a forced fumble.
Los Angeles won 12 games and captured the NFC West division title this past season, marking the franchise's second playoff appearance since 2004 after they ended the NFC's longest postseason drought in 2017.
The Rams, who earned a first-round bye, would proceed to defeat the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round before upending the New Orleans Saints in an incredibly controversial overtime victory in the NFC Championship Game the following week.
Los Angeles then moved on to the Super Bowl, where it ultimately fell to the New England Patriots by a score of 13-3.
The Rams have been busy trying to fortify their defense this offseason, first signing safety Eric Weddle and later landing linebacker Clay Matthews.
