Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley has been dealing with a knee injury that kept him out of Week 16 action against the Arizona Cardinals.

This has also put his status for the regular season finale against the San Francisco 49ers up in the air. With that in mind, head coach Sean McVay voiced on Wednesday that the team will make a decision on his availability early in the week, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Gurley, who is dealing with a knee injury, was scratched after that workout, but head coach Sean McVay indicated at a Wednesday press conference that the team would be making an earlier call on his availability for this weekend’s game against the 49ers.

Los Angeles is likely to take the precautionary route with Gurley given his importance to their game plan as the key piece of their offense. Keep in mind, McVay has already voiced that he doesn't want to impact the Pro Bowler's availability for the playoffs.

What may also push the Rams to lean towards giving him another week of rest will be the presence of C.J. Anderson, who has quickly proven to be a stable option. In his first game with the team, he rushed for a season-high 167 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown in the 31-9 win over the Cardinals.

All of this combined with having a favorable matchup against the 49ers with the opportunity to secure the second overall seed in the NFC and a first-round bye may lead the Rams to decided to sit him out another week.
