The Los Angeles Rams will undergo a major shift in the running backs room ahead of their Week 17 clash with the Baltimore Ravens. Sean McVay's squad will reportedly be without running back Darrell Henderson for the rest of the season after he was placed on IR with an apparent knee injury, per Ari Meirov. The loss of Henderson is a tough blow for the Rams, but they received some extremely encouraging news regarding another member of the backfield.

The Rams are anticipating that running back Cam Akers will be available to play this week, the first taste of game action he will receive since having suffered a torn Achilles over the summer. In what can only be described as a remarkably fast recovery, Akers will be cleared for full game action less than seven months after tearing his Achilles, an injury that often requires more than a full year of rehabilitation to recover from.

While the loss of Henderson to his MCL injury is a major blow for the Rams, there's some optimism that he'll be able to return late in the playoffs, should the Rams make a run. His 3-5 week timetable will keep him out for the remainder of the season but could see him return in time for the first or second round of the playoffs.

On the season, Henderson has racked up 149 carries for 688 yards and five rushing touchdowns. He's featured in 12 games for the Rams, but has been plagued by injury of late. He was inactive for the Rams in Week 13 and Week 14 with an injury and left Week 16's matchup with the Minnesota Vikings after logging just one carry due to his knee injury.
