The future of Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth is in limbo, as the veteran is not sure whether or not 2018 was his last NFL season.

However, the Rams are clinging to the hope that he will return, according to Peter King of NBC Sports.

Whitworth currently has one year remaining on a three-year contract and is due to make $10.7 million next season if he decides to come back. As it stands, the tackle will meet with Los Angeles after the Scouting Combine to discuss his future.

The left side of the Rams' offensive line—and Jared Goff's blindside—is currently hanging in the balance. Not only is Whitworth undecided about his future, but Los Angeles left guard Rodger Saffold will be a free agent in March and may end up leaving if he gets a big payday elsewhere.

If Whitworth and Saffold both depart, what was a strength for the Rams would suddenly become a glaring weakness.

Whitworth has spent the last two seasons in Los Angeles, missing just one game.

He made the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection in his first year with the club, and while he did not nab either of those honors in 2018, he was still a stabilizing presence along the Rams' offensive line.

The 37-year-old spent the first 11 years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals and actually seemed to get better with age, making his first trip to Honolulu in his seventh season in 2012 and then earning three straight Pro Bowl appearances—along with two First-Team All-Pro selections—between 2015 and 2017.
