With the Philadelphia Eagles rewarding Carson Wentz with a four-year, $128 million contract extension on Thursday night, you have to wonder if Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is next in line for a big deal.

However, Rams COO Kevin Demoff said that Wentz's new contract won't have any effect on the speed of negotiations between Los Angeles and Goff, saying that the Eagles are on a different path than the Rams.

“They seem to be on a different timetable than we are. … I don’t think we’re naive enough to say that Carson signing is not relevant. I just don’t think it changes the timing,” Demoff said, according to Gary Klein of The Los Angeles Times.

So, while Demoff seems to acknowledge that the terms of Wentz's deal may play a role in how many years and how much money Goff receives, it won't make the Rams move any faster in trying to lock him up.

Goff is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 4,688 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 64.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 101.1 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Most importantly, Goff led the Rams to the Super Bowl, where they ultimately fell to the New England Patriots.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by Los Angeles with the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, one spot ahead of Wentz.

Goff, who had a rough rookie year in 2016, has made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances.
