The Los Angeles Rams actually benefited from the Detroit Lions' hiring of their director of college scouting, Brad Holmes.
Detroit hired Holmes to be its new general manager on Thursday. He will look to steer the Lions in the right direction following the dismissal of former GM Bob Quinn.
Meanwhile, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported the Rams are now the first team in NFL history to receive compensatory third-round draft picks by way of the league's new hiring initiatives.

The NFL approved a resolution in November compensating teams for losing minority staff members to marquee jobs elsewhere. Jarrett Bell of USA TODAY gave a breakdown of the resolution when it was announced:
• A team that loses a minority assistant coach who becomes a head coach or loses a personnel executive who becomes a general manager will receive third-round compensatory picks in each of the next two drafts.
• A team that loses two minority staffers to head coach and general manager positions would receive three third-round picks.
Basically, the new incentives were supposed to be an expansion of the Rooney Rule, which stipulates teams with head coaching vacancies must interview at least two minority candidates.
These incentives have drawn fairly mixed reactions around the league. This is due in part to the idea there is a bit of disingenuity behind mandating teams to interview minority candidates, rather than teams arriving at that decision and making those hires on their own.
In any case, Holmes becomes just the third Black general manager in the NFL after the Cleveland Browns hired Andrew Berry last year. The Rams will receive draft picks, as a result.
