Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams will be facing their toughest task yet in the playoffs as they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round. For Stafford, however, the focus of the narrative is his showdown with Tom Brady.

After getting his first playoff win on Monday–leading the Rams to a huge 34-11 win over the Arizona Cardinals–Stafford was asked about his thoughts on playing against Brady. Nonetheless, instead of focusing on what many try to emphasize as an individual matchup, the Los Angeles QB reminded everyone that it is still a team sport at the end of the day.

He did promise to keep up with Brady, though, admitting that he understands how great the Buccaneers QB is and how much he needs to step up to give his team a fighting chance.

“I’m not playing against him, you know one-on-one, but I understand that he’s a great player and he’s going to get his team in the end zone so I’ve got to do my part as well,” Stafford said, per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

For what it's worth, Matthew Stafford has already beaten Tom Brady and the Buccaneers this 2021 campaign, with the Rams taking down the reigning champs 34-24  early in the season.

In that game, Stafford actually outplayed Brady, as he threw for four touchdowns with no interception while the Bucs QB only had one passing TD.

Of course the regular season is different from the playoffs, and Stafford knows that very well. However, there is no doubt he'll be brimming with confidence as he carries the momentum of his first win and previous play against Tb12.
