The Los Angeles Rams are off to a strong start to the 2018 season that has seen them race out to an undefeated mark through the first five weeks.

However, Los Angeles has had some notable struggles defensively, in particular, against the run where the team ranks 18th overall while giving up 106.8 yards per game. Pro Bowl defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh has voiced that the Rams have been atrocious against the running game this season, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

“Terrible, without question,” Suh said, adding later, “That's my personal opinion… It's terrible just from a standpoint of how much run yardage we gave up.”

It hasn't exactly been the best stretch of games for the Rams defensively that has seen them give up 31 points in back-to-back weeks with the most recent being on the road last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. This saw the Seahawks pound them for 190 rushing yards with Chris Carson garnering 116 yards on 19 attempts while Mike Davis posted 68 rushing yards on 12 carries in the contest.

This has become one of the consistent issues for the Rams as the defense has struggled to buckle down early in games that have led to opponents putting up big nights against them. However, Los Angeles has buckled down when it matters most giving up just six points in the fourth quarter over the first five games played. There has been a ramped level of play when things matter most in crucial moments that the team has shown the ability to step up.

At the same time, if the Rams hope to make a serious run toward the playoffs and potentially the Super Bowl, it will require for them to step up drastically in that department. There will be a formidable test ahead in Week 6 on the road against the Denver Broncos, who have an effective young, dynamic rookie running back duo of Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman that head the second-ranked running game in the league.
