The Los Angeles Rams were able to shore up some quality depth to the receiving corps by taking Van Jefferson in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. It seems they may very well have landed a potential game-changer.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, one NFC front office executive feels the Rams have ended up with one of the biggest steals in the draft:

“He was close to the cutoff as far as the really solid receivers available. I know people talked about getting starting-caliber wideouts in the fifth round, but I didn't buy that. This guy has polish.” — NFC exec

This year's draft featured one of the deepest receiver classes in recent history. The Rams were clearly looking to get in on the action after parting ways with an integral piece of their passing game in wide receiver Brandin Cooks this offseason. As a result, the rookie could have a chance to compete for a major role right away in the 2020 NFL season.

Jefferson established himself as one of the more intriguing receiver prospects thanks to his elite route-running and blazing speed on the outside. He also boasts an impressive pedigree as the son of former NFL wed receiver and New York Jets receivers coach Shawn Jefferson.

Head coach Sean McVay is optimistic that wide receiver Josh Reynolds is capable of filling the void left by Cooks in the receiving corps. Of course, having a surplus of talent for quarterback Jared Goff to throw to will only assist in their attempts to spark a potential resurgence.
