Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will face his former team in the Detroit Lions in what is set to be one of the more anticipated games of Week 7.

After 12 seasons where he set a multitude of team records, Stafford was traded by the Lions to the Rams in March. The Lions hauled in quarterback Jared Goff and a trio of draft picks in the move.

Many notable quarterbacks before have had unique approaches when facing their former team for the first time. But for Stafford, he is simply treating the upcoming matchup with Detroit as any other game, which he touched on following the Rams' 38-11 road win over the New York Giants in Week 6.

“Just like every other game,” Stafford said. “It's an NFL opponent coming into our building.

“I've got nothing but great relationships with people over there, so have a lot of respect for the organization, the team, the ownership.”

Stafford shined for the Rams against the Giants, as he threw for four passing touchdowns and posted a 128.7 passer rating.

The Lions certainly will have much work to do to contain a Stafford-led Rams offense that is currently averaging 29.8 points per game, which ranks in the top 10 in the NFL this season.

The NFL has already had one notable quarterback homecoming this season, which came when Tom Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a win over the New England Patriots in Week 4. Now, Stafford will look to do the same and pick up a win over his former team next week.
