The Los Angeles Rams may finally be paving the way to signing star defensive tackle Aaron Donald to a lucrative contract extension.

According to Gary Klein of the L.A. Times, the Rams appear to be making moves in preparation to get Donald what he wants.

But while Donald attended meetings and worked out with teammates Monday, the Rams made several financial moves that appear to be laying the groundwork for a possible deal for the star lineman and others.

The two moves made by the team include new deals for important players on special teams and on the defensive side of the football, via Klein.

The Rams announced that punter Johnny Hekker and defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks had signed extensions.

It'll be interesting to see if the recent moves made by Los Angeles do in fact speed up the process of getting Donald the desired extension. The team already played without arguably their best player in Week 1 as they crushed the visiting Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, 46-9.

In Week 2, the Rams will continue their homestand against the Washington Redskins. This will be a much tougher challenge with Kirk Cousins and company coming to town and looking to bounce back from their loss to the division rival Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.

The Rams are hoping to have Donald ready to play against the Redskins this week, but there's been no definite word on whether he's officially good to go for Week 2 as of yet.
