The Los Angeles Rams made quite the run in 2020 before ultimately coming up short to the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field in the playoffs. One thing that became apparent for the LA after last season was that they seemed to be a star quarterback away from truly taking the next step.

They wasted no time in the offseason trading for Matthew Stafford while sending the Detroit Lions draft compensation and Jared Goff in return. Rams head coach Sean McVay and Stafford already seem to be hitting it off in LA as they prepare for the 2021 season.

Via Cameron DaSilva of Yahoo, McVay has noted the duo's collaboration being a successful one already.

“You’ve heard me say before, but it all starts with the quarterback. Our offense is going to have him in mind with everything that we do, first and foremost. So you’re going to see some stuff that reflected in a lot of the success that he’s had in Detroit. We would be silly not to implement these things…He’s able to communicate that and it’s really been a great collaboration of putting this thing together and ultimately, can’t wait to get out on the field and really work with these guys.” – Sean McVay.

McVay has been praised as an offensive genius ever since he took over as the head coach of the Rams in 2017.

Acquiring Stafford in the offseason immediately boosted LA's odds in the eyes of many as a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

While the NFC West looks likely to be a brutally tough division again with the Seahawks, 49ers and Cardinals all having valid playoff aspirations at minimum, the Rams expect to be right in the fold themselves. Adding Stafford could be the next level decision they needed to make and the returns so far from McVay and Stafford's relationship have been good vibes.
