Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was largely a non-factor in the NFC Championship Game. Head coach Sean McVay expects that to change in Super Bowl LIII.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Gurley's lack of involvement versus the New Orleans Saints. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, McVay feels he must make sure to get the star back more touches.

I asked Rams coach Sean McVay about keeping tabs on Todd Gurley mentally and physically this week. McVay says he’s gotta do a better job with play selection to get Gurley going. “We fully expect him to be the Todd Gurley we know,” and expect he’s gonna be a big part of Super Bowl

It is encouraging to see that McVay's confidence in Gurley has not been shaken by his poor performance. There is no question that the reigning Offensive Player of the Year hardly looked like himself against the Saints. He finished the game with just 13 yards on five touches and was on the sideline for most of the game.

Fortunately, it is clear that McVay plans to utilize Gurley much like he has all season. This offense has been at its best when he is able to find his rhythm early on. Of course, Gurley will still surrender touches to running back C.J. Anderson. Not only has Anderson been playing extremely well lately but his Super Bowl experience should pay huge dividends this time around. It is safe to assume that head coach Bill Belichick will be doing all he can to slow down the Rams' two-headed attack.
