The Los Angeles Rams squeaked by with a Divisional Round victory on Sunday, narrowly outlasting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a high-intensity affair. The Rams did all they could to lose the game, but eventually managed to pull away with a 30-27 win. Running back Cam Akers, who entered the postseason as a feel-good story, coughed up two fumbles in the win, both of which proved extremely costly for the Rams. After the game, McVay addressed the fumbles from his young running back, via Michael J. Duarte.

McVay didn't seem to lose any confidence in Akers per his comments after the game. Rather than criticize Akers for his inability to protect the football, McVay prefers to see this as a learning experience. Of course, this could have been a drastically different conversation had the Rams lost the game. But, despite blowing their lead, LA managed to hang on for a close win.

Akers will be among his own harshest critics after the two turnovers, but McVay didn't feel the need to call out the 23-year-old. Akers had become a fan-favorite in Los Angeles after his remarkable recovery from an Achilles injury he sustained in June. Akers managed to return to action for the playoffs after missing the entire regular season, and even turned in a strong outing in the Wild Card round.

Unfortunately, the Florida State product failed to replicate that type of performance against Tampa. He carried the ball 24 times for just 48 yards and zero touchdowns, in addition to his two fumbles. Akers also caught three passes for 20 yards in the win, though nothing stood out quite as much as his pair of fumbles.
