Sean McVay and the Los Angels Rams were handed a second defeat of the season on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, 15-6. McVay’s trademark offense couldn’t even muster a touchdown, the first time they’d failed to do so in his first 29 games in charge.

After the game, McVay admitted the loss was quite a humbling experience for him personally.

“This one is very, very humbling for me,” McVay said per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

The Rams’ offense was completely corralled by the Bears D. LA produced a mere 214 total yards of offense, while quarterback Jared Goff committed four costly interceptions.

The defeat was quite a wake-up call for the Rams, who previously had sole possession of the best record in the NFL prior to their defeat. Their offense had not even scored fewer than 23 points prior to Sunday, which underscores just how prolific they had been. However, the Bears simply beat them up on that side of the ball, and the Rams just had no answers.

The loss should serve as a learning experience for McVay and co. that things won’t always come so easily for them on offense. There’s a decent chance they face such adversity in the postseason, and they need to know how to respond if they’re to make it all the way to the Super Bowl.

The Rams will get their chance to redeem themselves next week against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is easily their most competitive challenge in their last three games of the regular season.
