The Los Angeles Rams had a field day on the ground versus the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Divisional Round. As a result, there is plenty of speculation regarding how head coach Sean McVay will distribute the workload moving forward.

The Rams rushing attack clearly has the hot hand going into the NFC Championship Game. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, McVay plans to utilize both Gurley and Anderson against the New Orleans Saints:

“I think it’s more of a feel than anything else based on the flow of the game,” coach Sean McVay told reporters on Thursday. “[C]ertainly, when Todd is rolling you want to keep him rolling. I think it’s more of a result of, ‘Okay, how is the flow of the game going, certain situations that come up?’ But you do feel good about having two very productive backs and their ability to be able to kind of spell each other.”

McVay's strategy is certainly understandable. The Rams managed to do what many had deemed impossible against the formidable Dallas Cowboys defense by producing two 100-yard rushers on the day. It is clear that Los Angeles is looking to follow a similar game plan against New Orleans.

Prior to Anderson's arrival, Gurley had been the clear-cut workhorse in the Rams' backfield. However, his injury forced Los Angeles to find another viable option to pair him with after backup running back Malcolm Brown out for the season. Anderson filled in spectacularly in the final two games of the regular season and managed to follow up his success in the playoffs.

There is no question that Anderson has earned the right to a steady workload this postseason. Although McVay will be looking to mix it up in the backfield, it is safe to assume that Gurley will get the majority of touches if he is feeling healthy.
