The Los Angeles Rams will get to sip piña coladas on the beaches of Honolulu, Hawaii before facing the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, August 17th in a Week 2 preseason bout at Aloha Stadium.

However, their star running back Todd Gurley probably won't accompany them on the sandy business trip. Rams head coach Todd McVay talked on the matter if he's going or not on Tuesday to reporters, via Pro Football Talk,

That’s something that I would say, more likely than not, but we’re still working through the specifics of that as we kind of get closer and closer to that,” McVay said.“I don’t have the full answer, but more likely than not, he will not go.”

“There’s a lot of layers to it. I think it’s really just figuring out from an organizational standpoint, talking to the players, making sure that we’re in alignment with doing things the right way. Most importantly, what we want to do is always look out for players and what’s in their best interest and that’s something that we’ll have more clarification as we get closer to that trip,” per PFT.

Gurley is battling tendinitis in his left knee. He didn't undergo surgery, but one may guess the long-distance charter to Hawaii might be a reason he won't go. McVay shed very little detail on that scenario,

McVay said, via PFT: “I think it’s something that we’ll talk about. That’s definitely part of the discussion, but figuring out the nuances and all the little details is something that we’re kind of working through as an organization right now.

Of course, Gurley wants to go, as he said on Tuesday, according to PFT's Mike Florio,

“I would love to just go to Hawaii, sit back, sip on some pineapple juice, chill at whatever hotel we’re staying. Who could complain about going to Hawaii?”

I know I wouldn't Todd. Unfortunately, next offseason looks like a better time to fly out to Honolulu considering the potential long-term effects of not taking the injury without 100% a cautious approach.
