ESPN's Lindsey Thiry reports that Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was limited in practice Tuesday ahead of their playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. He's been nursing a sore knee since December 16th that caused him to miss the final two games of the regular season.

The Rams and Gurley remain optimistic that he can play Saturday against Dallas. Gurley is expected to take part in Wednesday's practice, and as long as everything goes well, he will be on track to play.

If Gurley is unable to play Saturday, the Rams will call upon C.J. Anderson. In Gurley's absence, Anderson has rushed 43 times for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Rams head coach Sean McVay told Cameron DaSilva of USA Today that there will be a “good balance of both” Gurley and Anderson on Saturday against the Cowboys, if Gurley is active.

The Rams will of course welcome back the All Pro running back since he's accounted for 21 touchdowns, including 17 rushing in 14 games. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot knows how important it will be for the Rams to have Gurley back as well.

From 247Sports's Mike Fisher:

“He can run inside, he can run outside, he can run through you, jump over you, around you, make you miss,” Elliott said. “Just a guy who has a really well-rounded game. He really doesn't have any weaknesses.”

Besides Gurley, defensive back Blake Countess (concussion) was also limited, while safety Lamarcus Joyner (ankle) had a full practice.

Los Angeles Rams face the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional playoffs on Saturday, January 12th at 8:15 p.m. EST.
