The Los Angeles Rams chose to release Todd Gurley on Thursday and he appears to be taking a humorous approach to the news. Less than an hour after the news was made official, Gurley took to Twitter to share his reaction to being released.

Of course, the NFL — similar to the other sports leagues — are unable to report to their team facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic. Also, it's the offseason and most players are preparing for next season or on vacation with families.

But for Gurley, he seems to be taking the news of his release well despite spending five seasons with the Rams. Since being drafted in 2015, Gurley became the face of the Rams' franchise, helping lead the team out of mediocrity under Jeff Fisher.

However, a knee issue that began in Week 1 of the 2018 season led to the demise of Gurley in Los Angeles. Before the knee became a legitimate concern, Gurley was one of the best running backs in the NFL. The All-Pro running back garnered 6,430 yards from scrimmage and 56 total touchdowns in his first four seasons.

As for this past season, the Rams were unable to utilize Gurley the same due to the concerns surrounding his mysterious injury. While it's an unfortunate move for Los Angeles, it's one that had to be made considering the team's cap situation moving forward.

With Gurley being released, the Rams are beginning to see quite a few of their key contributors leave this offseason. At the least, Gurley is still 25 years old and can contribute to another team in 2020. On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be any hard feelings from the running back toward the Rams.
