It was not that long ago when Todd Gurley was arguably the best running back in the NFL when he was regularly taking the rock to the house as part of the Los Angeles Rams. Today, Gurley appears to be struggling to even find a job, as he remains a free agent with less than two months before the 2021 NFL season.

But if it’s up to former Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson, the Rams shouldn’t be wasting any time in contacting Gurley, via TMZ.

“That’s a no-brainer,” Dickerson said of re-inking Gurley. “I mean, he knows the offense, he knows this offense. He doesn’t have to come in and try and learn it.”

“He knows [Sean] McVay, he knows the guys on the team — that would be an easy fit.”

The Rams also have an urgent need in the backfield after tailback Cam Akers suffered a devastating Achilles injury earlier this week while working out, one that wipes out any of his chances to play in the 2021 NFL season

Although the Rams still have Darrell Henderson Jr., it’s possible that the Rams are on the lookout for another running back, and someone like Gurley could be that guy.

While injuries have taken away so much of Gurley’s explosiveness, his familiarity alone with Sean McVay’s system could be an asset for the Rams in the event that they bring the veteran over back to SoFi Stadium.
