The GOAT himself, Tom Brady has spoken out about last Sunday's Super Bowl 56 spectacle as he congratulated Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams for their triumph over the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady, who recently called time on what was an illustrious 22-year career, was not on the pitch for the biggest game of the year. However, he was still able to appreciate the show, albeit from an entirely new perspective.

Brady had nothing but praise for Stafford, who himself came up with the performance of his life when it mattered the most. The 44-year-old also commended the Rams organization for the all-or-nothing mindset they ran with this season:

“Matt is a very talented quarterback, and he went to a very competitive organization where you have Aaron Donald there and you had Jalen Ramsey, and I know those guys are very competitive,” Brady said on Monday's episode of his Let's Go podcast (h/t Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times). “Sean McVay, who is a great young coach. And then they bring in the same year, they bring in Odell. They go all in with Odell. He has a great first quarter and a half in that game. And they go and trade for Von Miller.

“People think their time will come, but the reality is you’ve got to do the work to put yourself into position to win a Super Bowl, Brady said. You’ve got to go for it.”

And went for it they did. It all started with Stafford, who the Rams traded for in the offseason as their new centerpiece quarterback. They risked it all by adding more key pieces along the way and in the end, it all paid off. As they always say, fortune favors the brave.

“These things are really hard to earn,” he said. “You can’t buy them. You’ve got to go earn them. And when you watch the Rams’ approach, you know, they could go the other way, but it’s not from lack of effort. That’s an organization that’s determined to go out there and win Super Bowls, and I have a lot of respect for that.”

Brady then admitted that he was disappointed about watching the game from his TV as opposed to being on the field. Then again, this new experience was something that he was still able to appreciate:

“This game, yeah, I was bummed I wasn’t playing, but at the same time I was happy for the guys that were playing that got to live out their dreams in front of the whole world,” Brady said. “… I just kind of enjoyed watching these guys fight for something they worked hard to achieve.”

Inevitably, the conversation led to Brady's recent decision to retire. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar reiterated how he holds absolutely no regrets about his decision:

“I’m super content and happy with how I feel in my decision,” Brady said. “All you can do is take it day by day. Nothing is promised for us. I’m going to do things that I really enjoy and spend time with people that I really enjoy spending time with. The future is bright. I look forward to the opportunities that are ahead.”

Brady is clearly enjoying life in retirement and despite rumors of a potential return for the seven-time Super Bowl champ, it is only right that we let him savor the time he now has with his family. There's no question Tom Brady deserves this. And after all, the league is in good hands.
