The Los Angeles Rams have waived wide receiver Pharoh Cooper, according to Myles Simmons of the Rams' official team website.

Known for his kick-return skills, Cooper suffered an ankle injury in the Rams' Week 1 victory over the Oakland Raiders. He will undergo surgery and miss most of the year, finally returning to the field in Week 11.

He returned 13 kicks for 277 yards on the year.

Cooper, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, was originally selected by Los Angeles in the fourth round (117th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He scarcely saw the field during his rookie campaign, returning 14 kicks for 323 yards.

It was Cooper's second season that put the league on notice, as the Havelock, N.C. native racked up 932 kick return yards and a touchdown while also totaling 399 yards on punt returns, resulting in a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Unfortunately for Cooper, the ankle injury prevented him from duplicating his spectacular 2017 season.

The Rams are coming off a very disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night that dropped them to 11-3 on the season. They have lost two straight games, also falling to the Chicago Bears two weeks ago.

During their recent struggles, the Rams' offense has struggled mightily, scoring just 29 points over the last two games.

Fortunately for Los Angeles, it will have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way. The Rams will head on the road to take on the Arizona Cardinals next weekend before coming home to host the San Francisco 49ers to close out the regular season.
