Following the Los Angeles Rams’ loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round, Jared Goff’s status as the team's quarterback in the future still seemed to be certain, with head coach Sean McVay telling reporters after the loss that he will be the team’s signal-caller moving forward.

But since then, his future with the team’s doesn’t appear to be set in stone as it once was, with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting that Goff could have competition in the form of backup quarterback John Wolford if he is not traded before the team’s training camp.

This development follows a comment made by Rams general manager Les Snead that the 26-year-old is the team’s quarterback “at the moment,” further sparking rumors that Goff could be on the move and might not be with Los Angeles by the start of next season, although his lucrative contract could make this challenging. This is following reports of a rift between Goff and McVay following an inconsistent year that saw the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft complete 370 of 552 passes for 3,952 yards and 20 touchdowns with 13 interceptions.

The two-time Pro Bowler has helped the Rams to 45 wins since 2017 and was part of the team’s run to the Super Bowl in 2018, but that doesn’t seem like it will prevent competition at quarterback this summer. Wolford, meanwhile, has played well in the limited time that he replaced Goff under center, helping Los Angeles win their Week 17 game against the Arizona Cardinals, 18-7, before going down with an injury in the Rams' 30-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card Game and was replaced by Goff.
