Ep. 2019:23 – Rams Talk’s 200th episode extravaganza Ft. Grant Wistrom and Dick Vermeil
Derek Ciapala, Michael Stewart and Steve Rebeiro cover this week’s news on the Los Angeles Rams. They discuss the hiring of Los Angeles Chargers’ assistant Eric Henderson and former Pro Football Focus analyst Zac Robinson to coach the defensive line and quarterbacks. Then they welcome former Rams defensive end Grant Wistrom and former head coach Dick Vermeil to the show as part of Rams Talk’s 200th episode.
First, the guys look at the Rams’ newest changes to the coaching staff with Henderson and Robinson. They talk about why the Rams would hire Henderson to replace 40-year coaching veteran Bill Johnson. Derek, Mike and Steve also discuss what they believe Henderson will bring to the coaching staff. They finish the conversation by breaking down the significance of Jared Goff being on his fourth quarterbacks coach in four seasons.
Grant Wistrom joins the show for the show’s second segment. He discusses his journey through the draft and the Rams’ Super Bowl victory. Wistrom also talks about why he left the NFL at age 30 and what he’s doing today. Finally, Wistrom makes his feelings known about the Rams’ departure for Los Angeles.
Dick Vermeil visits for the final segment of the episode. He discusses his decision to return to coaching in 1996, after a 14-year absence. Vermeil also talks about some of the challenges he faced making the Rams a Super Bowl contender. Finally, Vermeil updates us on what he’s been doing since retiring from the NFL.
