The Los Angeles Rams won the toss and had the opportunity to put points on the board first — how, you ask?

The Rams can thank linebacker Cory Littleton, who immediately picked off heralded New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Sunday evening in Atlanta.

It is also worth noting that Sunday's very early pick notably marked the first time ever that Brady has thrown an interception on his first postseason passing attempt.

The Rams defense has certainly been no joke this season with veteran defensive coordinator Wade Phillips leading the way.

Although Patriots head coach Bill Belichick remains on the opposing sideline, Phillips will not be forgotten on Sunday evening, especially if the Rams can pull off the upset.

“He's done a good job of relaying the signals,” Phillips said of Littleton over the summer, via ESPN. “You know, it's harder for inside linebackers in the running game to show themselves with no pads on. He's obviously got coverage skills, and he actually can rush the passer really well from inside, so those are the kind of two things he's doing well, and I think he holds up in the run game too.”

However, Littleton has drawn praise from more than Phillips as well.

“When he played last year, he's the type of guy where you're creating certain packages just to get him on the field when you've got two really good players inside like Alec Ogletree and Mark Barron,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said of Littleton this past summer. “Cory's made plays over the course of his career when he's gotten opportunities.”

The Rams were unable to score following the Super Bowl turnover, however.
