Johnny Hekker is a punter, but somehow, he has completed 12 passes in his NFL career.

Why? Because he is the master of the fake punt.

The New Orleans Saints found that out the hard way in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, when the Los Angeles Rams punter threw a five-yard pass to defensive back Sam Shields for a Rams first down:

Hekker made that look incredibly easy.

Also, talk about a gutsy call by Sean McVay. If the Saints would have stopped the Rams on that play, they would have taken over with outstanding field position and, at the very least, probably would have added on another field goal.

But, McVay decided to risk it, and it paid off, as the Rams got on the board with a field goal of their own.

Hekker has now completed 12 of his 20 passes throughout his seven-year NFL career, throwing for 161 yards and a touchdown.

When he isn't converting fake punts, he is being one of the best punters in the league.

The 28-year-old has made four Pro Bowls throughout his Rams tenure, also earning First-Team All-Pro selections in each of those four seasons. This marks the first year that Hekker will not be going to Honolulu since 2014.

On the season, Hekker punted 43 times, accumulating 1,992 yards and an average of 46.3 yards per boot. Of course, the reason why you haven't heard Hekker's name as much this season is because he hasn't had much of a chance to punt, as the Rams' offense ranked second in the league.
