The Los Angeles Rams figured to select a running back at some point during the course of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Los Angeles parted ways with former All-Pro back Todd Gurley in March, and–while Darrell Henderson's abilities have prompted some excitement–were in desperate need of quality depth at the position.

The Rams selected former Florida State running back Cam Akers in the second round, and L.A.'s scouts lauded Akers as a quality all-around back prior to his selection.

One scout noted he might be more successful than D'Andre Swift, whom the Detroit Lions selected with the 35th overall pick.

Akers had a nice year for the Seminoles in 2019, rushing for 1,144 yards and racking up 18 total touchdowns in 11 games.

The Rams feel Akers can provide nice balance alongside Henderson, who has been lauded for his receiving abilities.

It seems likely the Rams will go with something of a committee look in their backfield, and Akers is sure to get plenty of opportunities to establish himself.
