The Toronto Raptors fell to the New Orleans Pelicans at home Monday. To make matters worse, they also lost sharpshooter C.J. Miles to an adductor strain.

Miles suffered the injury just eight minutes into the game and was forced to leave. He never returned after scoring only three points.

C.J. Miles, in his second season with the Raptors, entered Monday averaging 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds through 12 games. The 31-year-old Texas native is shooting 30.3 percent from the field, 25.6 percent from beyond the arc and 64.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Miles is usually a good shooter from distance, but he hasn't been able to find his shot yet this season. For his career, Miles shoots 35.9 percent from the 3-point line. It should be noted that the left-handed swingman is dealing with a lingering hip injury.

With the loss to the Pelicans, the Raptors are now 12-2 on the season. It's unclear how long Miles will be out. Depending on the severity of the strain, C.J. Miles could be out for weeks or play in the next game. It just depends on how he reacts to the treatment.

Toronto takes on the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at home. Monday was the Raptors' first loss of the season at home. They will look to avoid a second-straight loss at the Scotiabank Arena.
