The Toronto Raptors are intent in making sure the hole in their frontcourt doesn't swell up. After losing both Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers respectively, they started to make moves of their own by acquiring Aaron Baynes from the Phoenix Suns.

To further bolster their front court, it's been reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the team has decided to re-sign 27-year old Chris Boucher to a 2-year $13.5 million deal.

Boucher will now be returning for his third season in the Raptors roster. He was part of the Toronto team that won the 2019 NBA championship. Prior to moving to his home country, Boucher started his time in the league with the Golden State Warriors where he also won a ring in 2018.

Last season, the athletic power forward played 62 regular season games for head coach Nick Nurse and was a reliable option from the bench. He averaged 6.6 points per game and added 4.5 rebounds in 13.2 minutes played per contest. Although his numbers aren't really impressive, Boucher has proven that he's quite the energy guy that can help his team in efficient spurts – something the Raptors would need if they want to compete for another shot at the title this season.

Boucher is a G-League alum and had quite the stint for the Raptors 905 squad. In his lone season for Toronto's development team, he was an absolute beast and won both G-League MVP as well as Defensive Player of the Year. If Boucher successfully channels his G-League numbers this season, he has a shot at being one of the most underrated forwards in the league.
