Despite being shorthanded for the last several games, the Toronto Raptors have been able to manage thanks to their bench. But for Fred VanVleet, once the team becomes fully healthy, then the true challenge for the bench begins.

“They have the talent and that is what we have been looking for,” VanVleet said of the Raptors bench, per Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun. “We were waiting to see who was going to step up and I think we found it.”

While' VanVleet is pleased with the bench's performance, he's worried that the team is in full force once again, then the bench players will get fewer opportunities at showcasing what they got.

“The hard part is going to be when we have a full team,” VanVleet said. “How do you manage that? Less shots, less reps, less minutes. That time you get to play through your mistakes is shortened and that’s a mental hurdle you have to get over. That’s something we’ll have to see.”

Indeed, it's an interesting thought shared by VanVleet — one of the greatest success stories in the NBA today. From an undrafted prospect to one of the key pillars of a championship team — VanVleet has seemingly done the impossible. So expect him to give the bench some guidance on how to make the most of the limited opportunities that'll be given to them.
