Kawhi Leonard will not play Tuesday night when the Toronto Raptors pay the Los Angles Clippers a visit at Staples Center, as announced by Raptors head coach Nick Nurse and reported by Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

#Raptors coach Nick Nurse says star Kawhi Leonard (bruised hip) WILL NOT play today against the L.A. #Clippers.

The meeting with the Clippers is the first leg of a four-game road trip of the Raptors. It’s also the first set of a back-to-back assignment for the team. All those considered, it comes with lesser surprise why the Raptors are having a very careful approach to Leonard’s availability.

It’s worth noting that Kawhi Leonard has yet to play a back-to-back set since coming over north of the border following a lengthy saga with the San Antonio Spurs last season.

The last time the talented two-way swingman stepped on the floor, Leonard managed to put up 20 points on 8-for-18 shooting from the floor to go with eight boards, four assists, two block, and two steals in 37 minutes of a 104-99 loss at home to the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 9.

On the season, Leonard is averaging 26.1 points, 3.0 assists, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per contest.

Without Leonard, the Raptors will be leaning more on the likes of Danny Green, Pascal Siakam, and Serge Ibaka to provide support for guard Kyle Lowry.

The Raptors are 0-2 in their last two matchups with the Clippers.
