It seems Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard has fallen in love with the Canadian city.

Leonard's controversial uncle, Dennis Robertson, cleared the air with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports and emphasized that Kawhi is loving his life in Toronto. To recall, the three-time All-Star was initially reluctant to move out of the USA and join the Canada-based team, as it is not one of his preferred destinations.

“When you are initially traded somewhere you didn’t asked to be, you don’t want to accept it,” Robertson said. “But once you get through that period, the focus then turns to giving your all and performing at a high level. It never had anything to do with the city of Toronto. It wasn’t. Toronto is a beautiful city. Kawhi has often spoke highly of Toronto. It’s a beautiful place. That was just an initial reaction, which is normal. But we’re enjoying this run and looking forward to the Finals.”

Behind Leonard's exploits, the Raptors are in the NBA Finals for the first time in their 25-year history. The Raptors beat the No.1-seeded Milwaukee Bucks four games in a row after going down 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Leonard is averaging a gaudy 31.2 points per game in the playoffs this year. He is also just the seventh player in NBA playoff history to register seven games of at least 35 points — the other six being Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Elgin Baylor, Bernard King and Hakeem Olajuwon.

The 27-year-old Leonard has a player option worth $21.3 million for the 2019-20 NBA season. If he exercises his player option, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Will Kawhi Leonard remain in Toronto? His uncle's statement seems encouraging for Raptors fans. If Toronto wins its first NBA title, there's a good chance he will stay in Canada. After all, winning cures everything.
