Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is expected to be recovered enough from thumb surgery to participate in the upcoming USA Basketball training camp ahead of the FIBA World Cup:

Lowry underwent a minor procedure to repair a tendon in his left thumb earlier this month. He played through the injury in the postseason, but the 33-year-old Raptors star will have ample time to recover.

Lowry has established himself as one of the best point guards in today's NBA. In his 65 appearances with the Raptors last season (all starts), the former Villanova standout racked up averages of 14.2 points on 41.1 percent shooting from the field (34.7 percent from beyond the arc), 8.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 34.0 minutes per outing.

Lowry then helped the Raptors win their first-ever NBA title, gutting through his thumb injury and putting forth some big-time efforts in the playoffs.

For whatever reason, several well-known NBA players have decided to withdraw from USA Basketball activities this summer, including Anthony Davis, James Harden, Damian Lillard and a host of others.

Of the 11 Americans on the All-NBA team this past season, only one is currently slated to participate in the World Cup: Kemba Walker.
