The duo of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry gave the Raptors some of the best years in franchise history. In the seven seasons the two played together in Toronto, the Raptors won 48 or more games six times. The height of that era in Toronto came during the 2017-18 season. That's when DeRozan and Lowry led the team to a franchise-record 59 wins and the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately, the duo never led the franchise to the NBA Finals. DeRozan would be traded to the San Antonio Spurs the following offseason. Regardless, it's hard to argue with the regular-season success that the team enjoyed with the two guards at the helm.

DeRozan and Lowry were seen as quite good friends while they played together. And Lowry has an idea as to why his pairing with DeRozan worked so well.

“We never let ego get in the way. If he had it going I'd keep giving him the ball, if I had it going he'd give me the ball. It worked for us,” Lowry said. “Also having a great friendship made it a lot easier. We knew what each other was gonna give.” per Josh Lewenberg of The Sports Network.

Lowry was also complementary of his former teammate despite no longer being on the same team.

“DeRozan gave everything (to Toronto). He was the guy that said ‘I got us' when CB left, he re-signed here and he helped take the organization to new heights… He gave the city a lot and the city saw him grow from being a boy to a man.”

It's safe to say that although Lowry and DeRozan never won a title together, their pairing was a success.
